New Ideas Should be Oversaturated

  • Toby Schachman in his Ink&Switch workshop on Cuttle mentioned how it was to work in Bret Victor's group at CDG - he would push for oversaturating the research idea, so the core idea goes as far in the "new direction" as possible
  • one reason why this might be a good idea is that new ideas are often misunderstood and/or diluted over time, and the more saturated they are to begin with, the more of them remains through this process
  • I think that this might be connected to Playing Your Own Games - to oversaturate the idea, you need to intuitively "know" it, so it's only really possible when you do your own research, when you Follow Your Own Genuine Interests
