To me a unifying thread of these tools is that other tools feel like appliances but these feel more like "places". This seems to come from some kind of limitlessness: Notion has infinite hierarchies, Figma has an infinite canvas...

• related to Canvas for Thinking, Canvas for Programming - (infinite) canvases might be a great building block for Tools for Thinking
• orienting users within the canvas - where's the 0,0,0? - is it needed? - Notion has breadcrumbs, in Figma it's easy to get lost in big canvases, minimap helps
